The board of NN CDC Pensioenfonds has decided to repay special partner pension to the (current or former) participant if their ex-partner passes away before they do. This is an important decision, because the amount can be substantial.

If your relationship ends, your ex-partner will be entitled to part of your partner pension accrual after you pass away. This is called special partner pension. A condition is that your relationship started before your retirement date, and your partner must be registered with the pension fund if you were cohabitating.

What has changed?
As a result of new legislation that came into effect on 1 January 2015, special partner pension can be paid back to the (current or former) participant instead of to the pension fund. As the amount involved for the participant may be substantial, the board of NN CDC Pensioenfonds has decided to implement this new option retroactively.
