Will the Pension Planner take into account my divorce?

Are you divorced or in the midst of getting a divorce? In almost all cases, divorce has an impact on your pension, as your former partner will be entitled to a part of the old-age pension that was accrued while you were married. As soon as your divorce has been processed by the pension fund, the Pension Planner will take it into account when making calculations. Check your list of action points here.

The Pension Planner is a handy tool for monitoring your pension or making calculations regarding your pension options (or combinations of options). The Planner does more than just show how much old age pension you've already accrued and could ultimately accrue. After a divorce, it also processes the division of your pension between you and your former partner.

Your action points
If your relationship is about to end, make sure you take timely action:

Marriage / registered partnership
- Once the pension fund has been informed of your divorce, you and your former partner will receive a form entitled ‘Pension for ex-partner’. Use this form to opt for the pension division that's standard by law (50/50) or a different division. You must submit this form to us within two years after your divorce has become official. In due course, the pension fund will pay out pension benefits directly to your former partner.

- Always attach a copy of your divorce settlement agreement if you select a division deviating from the 50/50 standard or if you choose to split your pension into two separate pensions. The latter is referred to as conversion.

- If your former partner agrees to waive his/her entitlement to special partner pension, he/she must report this to us. You will have to agree with this and submit a statement to this effect signed by both of you.

Cohabitation
- If you and your partner are cohabitating, you will have to report the end of your relationship to us by submitting the form ‘Terminated cohabitation partnership’

- If your former partner agrees to waive his/her entitlement to special partner pension, he/she must report this to us. You will have to agree with this and submit a statement to this effect signed by both of you.
